HOW YOU CAN HELP

Prayer:

Jesus encourages us to pray continually (Luke 18:1) and I know that I will need prayer support from friends and family at home to serve God effectively in mission. Prayer support is crucial to what goes on and it is only through the work of Gods’ Holy Spirit that real and sustainable change and life can happen. I will be updating a blog and writing regular prayer letters and would be delighted to add you to my mailing list should you choose to hold me up in prayer.

Financial support:

When overseas, the nature of the mid-term program is that there are some expenses covered by BMS World Mission including flights and cargo costs, travel insurance and rent. I therefore require support from regular sponsorship to cover all other daily living expenses including food, electricity, internet, water, heating, transport, medication, clothes, computer equipment and money for recreational activities. It is also commonplace in Nepali culture for people to employ a local woman as a ‘Didi’ who supports in the house with domestic needs once or twice a week.

If you feel you are able to contribute financially to help me in my mission I would humbly accept any amount large or small. I know that there are many pressures on finances for people to support charities and that many of you already give on a regular basis, but please pray whether this is something which God might be asking you to do. The George Müller Charitable Trust have recognised my ministry and have offered to help me financially. They do this from unconditional gifts that are made to their general fund, so I would ask that you support them by setting up a standing order using the enclosed form, or by sending them a cheque. For legal reasons, they cannot accept gifts that come with an instruction, so please include with your gift a letter stating that you are making a no-obligation gift for use at the discretion of the Trustees and asking that they consider making a gift of at least the same amount to me.  If you tell them that the money is to be given to me, the Trust is obliged to refuse it. They are a registered charity, so if you are a taxpayer, please also complete and send them a Gift Aid declaration. The Trust makes a gift to mission workers on a monthly basis, based on gifts received the previous month, and they will send me a statement showing who has made them a gift and how much that gift was (including any tax reclaimed).

Thank you in advance for supporting me in world mission. Whether this is by prayer or also by financial support, I trust you will enjoy partnering with me and would love to hear from you via e-mail: email@philrawlings.com

GIVING TO SKI

In its support for Christian workers and organisations at home and overseas, the Scriptural Knowledge Institution continues to provide the link between those seeking God for their financial needs with those who are seeking God concerning their giving and these are brought together through prayer.

If you wish to make a donation, please be aware that all gifts sent to GMCT are added to the General Funds of the Trust, without legal or moral obligation as to their use, and are applied at the discretion of the Trustees. From the General Funds, gifts are made to Christian workers and organisations as determined by the Trustees, normally on a monthly basis. Please note that GMCT does not hold funds in the name of a Christian worker or organisation nor are funds held in the names of donors – Christian workers and organisations do not have an “account” with GMCT.

A donor may express a wish to the Trustees that an amount at least equivalent to their original gift be given to a named worker or organisation and the Trustees have regard to those wishes in making distributions. This will help the Trustees to remain compliant with HMRC and the Charities Commission. The Trustees will refuse a gift from a donor where the donor requires that a corresponding gift be made to a particular Christian worker or organisation.

All gifts must be accompanied by a separate letter indicating if you have any expressed wishes for the Trustees to consider as they make gifts from General Funds.

If you wish to send a gift to GMCT, there are various ways in which this can be done: Standing Order; cheque; Charity Voucher (eg CAF/Stewardship).

Cheques and Charity vouchers should be made payable to “The George Müller Charitable Trust – SKI a/c”.

If you wish to set up a standing order from your bank, please download the Banker's Order form.

Please note that one-off gifts should not be paid directly into the GMCT account without prior agreement.

If you are a UK taxpayer, please download and use a Gift Aid declaration as this increases the value of your gift to us at no cost to yourself.

SAMPLE COVERING LETTER

The following is an example letter for you to copy and send with your donation to allow The George Müller Charitable Trust to send me a donation matching yours to them.

Dear George Müller Charitable Trust

Having read through your information leaflet and understanding the work you do, please find enclosed my monthly/quarterly/yearly no-obligation gift of £          for use at the discretion of the Trustees at the George Müller Charitable Trust- SKI. I have also included a completed Gift Aid Declaration form for you to reclaim tax on my donation.

Whilst I understand this donation is for the general funds of the charity, please consider making a gift of at least the same amount to Phil Rawlings for his ministry in overseas mission.

Yours sincerely
